01 / OVERVIEW

Product overview

A volatile monofunctional chlorosilane that hydrolyzes rapidly in water. It is primarily a trimethylsilyl source and chain terminator, and a feedstock for hexamethyldisiloxane and hexamethyldisilazane.

03 / APPLICATIONS

Applications

01

Hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO/MM)Produced by controlled hydrolysis and condensation; used as an end-blocker and silicone intermediate.

02

Hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS)Produced by reaction with ammonia for pharmaceutical, semiconductor and surface-treatment uses.

03

Trimethylsilyl protecting reagentUsed to silylate and protect hydroxyl, carboxyl and other reactive groups in organic synthesis.

04

Polysiloxane end-blockingFunctions as a chain terminator/end-blocker to control molecular weight and end groups; it is not the principal backbone monomer.

04 / HANDLING

Packaging, storage and transport

Keep the handling system dry and preferably under nitrogen. Avoid inhalation and skin/eye contact. Do not flush spills directly with water; follow the SDS and use a compatible inert absorbent.

1

Typical packagingAvailable in sample packs, drums or IBCs depending on product compatibility and order quantity.

2

Sealing requirementsUse a clean, dry and tightly sealed compatible container; nitrogen protection is recommended for moisture-sensitive grades.

3

Storage conditionsStore in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place away from moisture, heat, ignition sources and incompatible materials.

4

Transport and shelf lifeTransport classification and shelf life depend on the exact grade and must follow the latest SDS and confirmed order specification.

Actual packaging, shelf life and dangerous-goods classification must follow the exact grade, order and latest SDS.
